Jeron Konig became one of Channel 13’s personalities in the early 1950s. Using his middle name, he became the star of Criswell Predicts. Originally, he had bought time on the station to advertise his Criswell Family Vitamins, but between pitches, during the 15-minute show, he began making mostly outrageous, inaccurate, and funny looks into the future. He would enter clad in a tuxedo with “Pomp and Circumstance” playing. Later, he became a regular predictor with Johnny Carson.

Regis Philbin started at Channel 13 as a stagehand in 1957. Soon, he was helping out in the news department. By 1966, Philbin was cohosting Tempo on Channel 9 and, later, AM Los Angeles on Channel 7.
